As a microtechnology lab technician, you'll assist with design and development to test ways of making technology work on a smaller scale. You’ll work with scientists and microtechnology specialists in the latest research and development in a variety of fields, from microelectronics to biotechnology.
You’ll make extensive use of computers, computer-interfaced equipment, robotics, and high-tech industrial applications to advance silicon manufacturing processes, for example, or find ways to reduce storage space and costs while improving technological speed and performance.
Tasks may include:
- Providing support in research, design, and development
- Setting up and testing equipment and products
- Monitoring experiments
- Gathering and interpreting data
- Documenting findings
- Helping devise solutions to problems
Degree Requirements:
Minimum two-year degree in microtechnology, nanotechnology, or related field.
Skills Required:
- Mechanical aptitude
- Knowledge of physics and applied sciences
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Solid understanding of microtechnology
